Stipulations of Successful Grades Allowance

      1. SGA is open to high school seniors entering a 4-year college. All applications are due March 15th of each year.
      2. With each transcript, the recipient will get a monthly allowance. On the first transcript, the recipient will earn $10 for every A and every B $5. There are no allowances for C’s and D’s. The recipient can increase his or her allowance with every additional transcript. SGA will disburse for every additional A, $5; and every additional B, $3. Remedial classes will not qualify for SGA.
      3. SGA will be disbursed for a maximum of 5 classes per semester and a maximum of 7 semesters after initial enrollment. If a recipient enrolls in more than 5 classes, non-elective classes will qualify for SGA first. SGA will be disbursed from August through December, and January through May.
      4. A Graduation Bonus of $225 will be disbursed when graduation is completed.
      5. An 8 Semester Graduation Bonus of $400 will be disbursed when graduation is completed within 8 semesters.
      6. To receive SGA the recipient must establish his/her own personal, independent checking account (not to be shared with parents, siblings, friends, etc.).
      7. At the beginning of each semester, a copy of the recipient’s registration/enrollment must be submitted. At the end of each semester, a copy of the recipient’s transcript must be submitted. The recipient must submit said documents within 2 weeks of the beginning of each semester and within 2 weeks after the end of each semester. E-copies are acceptable.
      8. If the recipient withdraws from school during the fall or spring semesters, The SGA Allowance will cease immediately. If the recipient re-enrolls in school after only 1 semester was omitted, the recipient must submit a copy of his/her registration/enrollment for the upcoming semester. SGA Allowance will be activated again but funds will not be disbursed until after the new semester’s transcript submitted.
The new SGA Allowance amount will include the prior semester’s grades along with the current semester’s grades. The recipient is only permitted one withdrawal.
      9. If the recipient withdraws from school for 2 consecutive semesters, SGA will discontinue. The recipient may appeal the discontinuation upon his/her return to school with a written explanation for the withdrawal. A decision to re-activate SGA will be made at the donor’s discretion.
      10. The recipient must agree to place at least 25% of every allowance payment into his/her own separate, a personal savings account that the recipient does not touch for any reason.
      11. The donor may, at any time, discontinue SGA to the recipient if the donor feels the recipient is not representing SGA and its principles and values.

How does the Successful Grades Allowance work?

Students enter college with added responsibilities; time management, academic success, personal accountability, and new financial obligations. A monetary incentive for successful grades at this time in a student’s life provides a little financial assistance when it is needed most. With one less challenge to worry about, the student can focus more on his/her academic responsibilities.
